The State Department of Education IASA Title I office provides administrative direction and control in implementing supplementary instructional and supporting programs to meet the special needs of children in areas of high concentrations of low income families in New Mexico.

Homeless Program

The Homeless Education Program is funded by the Stuart B. McKinney Act which was passed by Congress in 1987. Title VII, Subtitle B of the McKinney Act requires states to remove barriers to homeless children's education and provide homeless children and youth access to a free, and appropriate education.

Migrant Program

The purpose of the Migrant Education Program is to support educational programs for migratory children to help reduce the educational disruptions and other problems that result from repeated moves.

Neglected and/or Delinquent Program

This program extends educational services and learning time in State institutions for neglected and delinquent children and youth making the services more comparable to offerings of LEAs. State agencies must offer 20 hours of instruction per week. Local agencies will receive funds as either neglected or a delinquent home/institution. Delinquent funds are allocated separately to LEAs.
